How hard would it be to walk-on to a D1 college basketball team?

I am a 5'11'' Senior in High School. I have contacted the coaches and they told me there will be walk-on tryouts in the fall. How difficult do you think it would be to make the team.

It depends on how good you are. Duh. But really, if you are in high school, I really don't think you will make it, unless you are REALLY good.
Very Difficult, but just play your heart out. They might assign you to a pratice squad if you're any good. But just play your heart out. Good Luck.
first of all, to nate: WTH? for all you know he may be a stud in high school but flew under the radar or w/e. SO LAY OFF

To the poster: It would be diffucult, but it just comes down to how much you want it. Work your as* off beforecollegeand during the tryouts and youd have a fair shot. Good luck
its hard.. but if you want a chance to make it.. its not going to come down to your skill but your work ethic... and also if you dont make it.. you can always play ball for a smaller school
Walk-ons do make teams. If you look at full rosters, there often are guys who fill out rosters. So it's possible. Your height is obviously working against you, but most places will give you a chance.

The catch is probably playing time, even if you do make the roster. The scholarship players are the ones who will play. You hear stories once in a great while about someone who earned his way on to a roster and then into the lineup, but they are rare ... especially at the big schools. Is it worth it? That's a question for you to ask.
