It would probably have to be Kareem Abdul Jabbar (went by Lew Alcindor) as the time. i believe he won 3 championships in his 3 years and lost only 2 games during his career- he really changed the game at that level.

Back in the 50's a guy named Frank Selvy scored 100 points in a game. Look it up. But Pistol Pete was the best ever.
Honestly Larry Bird...i know im going out on a long limb here but he took Indiana St not Indiana to the Ncaa Finals....he was a 1 man show who did everything. In his days competition was very good as he had the rival with Magic Johnson...

tim duncan hands down. ive never seen anyone dominate the low post on offense and defense as well as the boards and stay all four years of college. and he played in the acc which at that time was the perrinial power conference.

I know i am just 14 but I hear about these girls who get letters from colleges when they are just in 8th grade. I have always wanted to play womenscollegebasketball for an average team (not like conn. or tennessee) But I just started playing last year and averaged 8 points a game and 4 rebounds. Its just I hear about these girls who start playing when they are 5. Is it possible to have a chance when you start playing when other girls are getting letters from colleges?

Yes but there is somthing u must know and thats u must puy 110% into basketball now. Take Candice Parker she knew she wanted to play ball so she was always out there working always. You must be the first one to practice and the last one out. These 8th graders are born with talent but they worked. I dont know how good u r but u NEED to want it more then everyone else. You must eat driknk and sleep basketball. All these letters are not going to come over night. Dont feel bad if nothing comes till 11th or 12th grade but thats when the scouts kick it into gear. Work hard, show you will do anything to play, work with your coaches and they will help you. Good luck.
If you plan on working your tail off for the next 4 years.... then yea. I would suggest getting a trainer.

You could be a walk on, if you go tocollegeand you try-out for the team and make it, if they keep you on the team you could get a scholarship.

Or you could have a tape (disc) made of your high school playing time and send it to a college. This works with small Division II schools because they do not have the money to scout aggressively.

(like the players we just saw play for Memphis and Kansas last night..) look so much more physically mature and skillful ball players than thecollegeplayers of just 10 to 15 years ago? Some of these guys on those two teams almost look like pros in the way they play. Has the skill level incollegebasketball really improved that much and if so...why?

But, like the NBA, they don't play defense like they used to. Carolina was the best team in the tournament, but they played no defense, and that's why they lost. Kansas played exceptional defense.

I agree with you. They're more physically mature because they pumping up those muscles. They're more skillful ball players because they train harder. The competition is just great than before. They're competing with other American ball players and even against the world (international players) for a spot in the NBA.

In order to distract the visiting team,collegebasketball fans (Duke especially) normally make lots of noise when the visiting team has the ball. However, even more distracting is SILENCE, followed by a loud noise (just ask Tiger Woods). So, why not get real quiet and then YELL when they shoot the ball? Obviously this would require some planning, such as passing around flyers with instructions, but shouldn't be that hard to pull off.

Hard to pull off once fans get emotional... And what happens when all the idiot fans fall for every single boringly obvious pump fake. It would be a better idea to save that for the very end when the other team is trying to make the game winning shot when they aren't expecting it. Also, the fans would have to do it on their own or else it would be an NCAA Violation.

They dont do it to distract them, they do it so they have a hard time hearing what the coaches are saying, and when their teammates call out screens and such.
There's always gonna be some drunk idiot at the game who would ruin it anyway. Good idea though.

We do all the time in jr high and high school basketball games and it is really cool until the other team fans gain on what you're doing and they start doing when you shoot the ball. but it is just common sense but with like finals and big tounaments everybody in the stands now that are team does it. It is easy to pull off i hope this helps you out!!!!
I think it would be hard to pull of, coordinating thousands of fans like that. You could maybe get a lot of them to do it at first, but once the game gets underway, things can get emotional quickly for the fans and they get pumped up, making that sort of thing impossible to maintain for long.
